Controlling Crohn’s Disease with the Help of Probiotics

Posted by adianutrition on August 13, 2012

Probiotics like those made by Adia have been shown to be  very effective in helping manage the symptoms of Crohn’s disease, giving great relief to patients who suffer from the disease.  But what is Crohn’s disease, what are it’s symptoms, and how can they be alleviated with the help of probiotics?

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (this can be abbreviated as IBD) similar in class to ulcerative collitis, another disease made more manageable with the help of probiotic supplements.  The disease reults in inflammation of the digestive tract, leading to symptoms that range from abdominal pains and severe diarrhea to suppressed growth, ulcer growth, severe skin irritation and other severe symptoms in extreme cases.

There is no known cure for the cause of Crohn’s disease which would eradicate it forever, but treatment involves reducing or removing symptoms and establishing health.  Fortunately, this is the function that probiotic organisms serve.  Probiotic supplements can be extremely effective in the treatment of Crohn’s disease because the irritation that causes the symptoms of the disease mostly exists in the digestive tract, the area of the body where probiotic organisms live.  Although the exact cause of Crohn’s disease remains to be discovered, many scientists belive that it is caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the digestive tract.  Pobiotics help fix this imbalance and strength the portions of the immune system that are needed to control Crohn’s disease.  Researchers and patients have had great success treating these symptoms with probiotic supplements and have been shown to be powerfully effective in controlling Crohn’s disease-related symptoms.
